Bruce started his automotive career as a young lad working on his neighbors purple and white Ford small block stock car, the letter “X” for Wayne Evetts whom raced in Shanetown, Penna. In 1972 when Bruce got his first automobile, a 1970 Olds 442 muscle car, he fell in love with the mechanics of the machine and so he became employed by Boscov’s Auto Department in Pottsville. He worked there for about 5 years, married, and then moved to Lebanon and continued to work for Boscov’s for another 5 years.
It was during this time at Boscov’s where his teaching career started. He taught the Boscov’s College of Knowledge for women twice a year, gained his ASE certification, and after he earned enough money thru working flat rate, he bought a home and started a family. His love for racing continued during those years and thus he raced his very own strickly stock car yellow #8 and took first place in 1979 at Big Diamond Raceway in Minersville, Penna.

After his second son was born, Bruce decided that racing was risky with raising a family so he joined the pit crew for Chad Ulrich whom also raced at Big Diamond and Grandview in Bectlesville, Penna. with his red #42 Chevy modified small block. During those six years of being on the pit crew, he also achieved his teaching certificate and began teaching at Lebanon Vo-Tech. He thoroughly enjoyed teaching those young students and made sure that each and every one of them passed his class even if it meant taking a test privately from the class to not feel the pressure of testing. Today one of his students owns a trucking company and another became an aircraft mechanic.
In 1989 Bruce acquired the nickname of Dr. Dyno from his students he taught through Sun Electric Diagnostic Equipment Sales and Training (dyno being a high tech piece of equipment.) Dr. Dyno taught in the aftermarket for three years until 1993 when his youngest son was diagnosed with Kidney failure. The need to earn better pay and to have better benefits became an issue and so Carmony’s Diagnostic Center in Hershey, Penna. became the next step for Bruce. It is here where he earned his ASE Master Technician Certificate.
His love for teaching haunted him until 1996 when he joined up with National Auto Parts in which he taught in 6 counties throughout Eastern Pennsylvania. (ATA Automotive Technical Alliance School.) If you are a technician you may have attended one of Dr. Dyno’s classes as he also taught through the Automotive Reserch Center, his own school in Reading, York, Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Allentown, Monroe County, Chester County, and Delaware County. He’d travel from garage to garage teaching about 20 technicians from the area with three hours of technical training and 3 hours of hands on training monthly. He became the “Doc” whom everyone would call when they couldn’t fix a vehicle, or solve a vehicle’s problem. The dealerships used him like Manderbach Ford; and other organizations like NAPA, Snap On Tools, Mitchell, Lee Myles Transmission, AAA, Waykon Hitchkoc, and OTC (emission machine.) Today he owns and operates Doc’s Auto Repairs in Jersey Shore, Penna., supports his sons’ racing career with the Jesus Race Team and Shredd Racing and has raised 4 boys all in the automotive industry one way or another.
